The HCI Group Names Industry Professionals to Lead New Service Line

Two new hires to focus expertise on growing healthcare IT consultancy’s integration and testing division

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Sept. 19, 2013 – The HCI Group, a leading provider of healthcare information technology strategy and enterprise consulting services to healthcare organizations, announced its newly formed integration and testing services division. The division provides data migration, interface and interoperability, testing and legacy support services. Industry veterans Scott Hassler and Mark Jackson, who have a combined 50 years of experience in healthcare and IT, will lead the new division.

Hassler and Jackson, who will both serve as vice presidents of integration services, will work with hospital leadership, in-house IT staff and outside resources to advise on and implement cost-effective solutions that use technology to improve patient care and hospital operations, and meet federally mandated healthcare requirements. From developing step-by-step roadmaps for data migration to operating legacy systems for as long as they remain in service, Hassler and Jackson will be responsible for ensuring an effective and streamlined transition to new technologies for healthcare organizations.

“The decision to form this new integration and testing practice was based on demand from our clients,” said Greg Jones, president for the HCI Group. “These are services that we have performed previously by request. We decided that, based on our experiences, there was a need among healthcare organizations for a holistic, scalable and cost-effective approach to integrating and testing disparate systems. The innovative approach we have developed meets that need.”

Hassler joins the HCI Group with 25 years in the medical IT field. Previously, Hassler worked as vice president of applications for Indiana-based Information Technology Architects and owned the IT consulting firm Scott Hassler Consulting for 10 years, where he specialized in supporting Siemens applications and custom interfaces. Hassler also served as revenue cycle applications manager for St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis, as senior consultant/integration project manager for Siemens/Shared Medical Systems in Novi, Mich. and as patient data systems associate for Ingham Regional Medical Center in Lansing, Mich.

Jackson brings more than 20 years of experience in IT integration and healthcare IT to the HCI Group. Most recently, he served as vice president of the system integration division of Information Technology Architects. Previously, he served as senior integration consultant for Information Technology Architects, where he spearheaded several 24-month EPIC installations at health systems and hospitals in the South and Midwest. Jackson also served as an IT analyst for St. Mary’s Medical Center and Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind.

Hassler and Jackson bring combined expertise in multiple platforms including: Infor’s Cloverleaf, Oracle eGate/JCaps, Intersystems’ Ensemble, Corepoint Health’s Corepoint, Siemens OPENLink, Quality System’s Mirth, Eclipsys eLink, Orion Health Rhapsody, Sybase e-Biz Impact and EPIC Bridges.

“I can think of no other individuals that bring the level of skill and knowledge that Scott and Mark bring to the table,” said Jones. “The HCI Group is pleased to have them both on board, spearheading one of our rapidly expanding service lines in a time of significant growth for our company overall.”

Earlier this year, Inc. magazine recognized the HCI Group as the fastest-growing private healthcare company and the third fastest-growing company overall in the nation on its annual Inc. 500 list. The HCI Group’s clients include Johns Hopkins, Tenet Healthcare and UMC Health System (Texas Tech) in the U.S., as well as health systems in the United Kingdom and the Middle East.
